Beta Club Inducts New Members

BETA Club is an academic honors program focused on community service. The Beta Club’s mission is to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students. The aim of BETA Club is the same as the goal of education– preparation of an individual for his/her place in a democratic world.

“BETA members are responsible for maintaining a 90.0 cumulative GPA and earning 13 community service hours throughout the school year. Beta Club President and senior Marilyn Swint said. “Students in BETA Club do community service projects such as working the Kiddie Carnival, leading Socktober for the homeless, and providing Christmas for foster children.”

BETA Club benefits students by teaching them the importance and value of community service while also striving to maintain high academic achievement. In order to join, students are notified through a BETA invitation letter. Tenth through twelfth graders are invited, and the club is invitation-only. Students get inducted to BETA Club their tenth grade year based on their academic record of the previous school year.

“This year we had inductions in the spring, and we were once again able to have them in the APAC,” Swint said. “BETA Inductions were on April 24, and we inducted lots of new members.”
